United States Mortality DataBase

Acknowledgments

This project would not have been possible without the prior experience gained through the Human Mortality Database and the support of many individuals at the University of California, at the National Center for Health Statistics, at the French Institute for Demographic Studies (INED) as well as the financial support awarded by various institutions throughout the years.

Financial support

The USMDB receives financial and logistical support from its sponsoring two institutions, the Department of Demography at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) and the NIA-funded Center on the Economics and Demography of Aging at UCB (CEDA). The project has been initially supported by a grant (R01 AG040245) awarded to John Wilmoth by the National Institute on Aging (NIA). Additional technical and research support has been provided by the French Institute for Demographic Studies (INED). Financial support has been provided to the project on an annual basis since 2016 by the  Society of Actuaries-REX Pool Fund as well as through occasional gifts from the following sponsors: the AXA Research Fund, SCOR, Hannover-Re and Reinsurance Group of America (RGA).

Local support

We wish to thank the faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Demography for their moral support and direct assistance with this project over the years. Thanks as well to the staff of the Institute of Business and Economic Research for their excellent administrative support and to the Berkeley Population Center for skilled assistance with our fundraising efforts.
